Bryant & Johnson Break American Diving Drought, Win Synchronized Silver

Kelci Bryant and Abby Johnston helped the US win its first China’s sensational divers, He and Wu, won gold far and away with pinpoint synchronization and advanced difficulty on their dives, scoring 346.20 in an event China typically does well in.

Bryant and Johnston scored a 321.9 with a solid final dive to edge out the third place Canadian pair, which took Bronze over Italy with a 316.8 despite visible inconsistency and a lack of synchronization.

Bryant hails from Springfield, Illi., and competed in the 2008 Olympics. Johnston is from Columbus, Ohio.

The United States had never won a medal in synchronized diving and hadn’t medaled in diving since the 2000 Games in Sydney.
